As CFO, he drove tax and financial strategy, implementing initiatives that boosted profitability and positioned Fortis at the forefront of payment processing. A dedicated community leader, he played a key role in building the Jain Temple in Farmington Hills and received the National Jain Adult Award from JAINA. Lana Kinaia is a seasoned operations leader and customer experience specialist with over 15 years of experience. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, she began her career in the payments industry in 2014, where she quickly built, scaled a high-performing customer service team, and became a trusted partner to senior leadership. In 2022, Lana opened Michigan’s first Friendship Factory franchise, a vibrant retail and party space that inspires confidence, creativity, and connection in kids through hands-on activities and imaginative experiences. In 2025, Lana joined KMI Family Ventures as a key operations leader, where she bridges strategy and execution across the organization. Known for her hands-on approach, strong team leadership, and commitment to clarity and alignment, Lana plays an essential role in driving KMI’s daily success and advancing its mission with care and consistency.
Director of Philanthropy
Claudia Shah is a purpose-driven leader with a background in client relationship management, entrepreneurship, and strategic philanthropy. From 2003 to 2009, she served as Director of Client Relationships, overseeing key accounts in Michigan and New York. In 2009, she founded Fortis Employee Solutions, helping businesses build stronger, people-centered workplaces and guiding the company through a successful period of growth before shifting her focus to mission-driven work. After becoming a mother of three, Claudia found renewed purpose in philanthropy, inspired by her experiences with the Mayo Clinic and the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Today, she leads initiatives centered on family health, education, and long-term community impact. Combining entrepreneurial insight, compassion, and strategic vision, Claudia is committed to creating meaningful change that supports families and strengthens communities for generations to come.
Senior Associate
Neel Shah is a dynamic professional with experience in investment accounting, compliance, operations, and client relations. A 2023 graduate of Michigan State University, he joined KMI Family Ventures as a Senior Associate and Limn Insurance as an Associate in 2024, where he plays a key role driving marketing, technology initiatives, and cross-company operations. His work spans building internal systems, supporting product development, managing recruitment, and improving organizational workflows. Since 2020, Neel has also served as a Notary Public, assisting hundreds of clients with home purchases and refinances through partners like Rocket Mortgage and UWM. He previously worked as an Investment Accountant I at Jackson, gaining experience in financial reporting and regulatory compliance. Known for his adaptability, analytical mindset, and technological knowledge, Neel blends technical proficiency with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, making him a versatile asset across KMI’s businesses.
